Day 2 - August 17th 2007
We didn't know it at the time but the US State Department issued a travel adversary while we slept.
What we did notice were the resort personnel that were handing out the following notice mid-morning:
About the same time US Airways issued a travel adversary for Jamaica and started allowing people to change their plans without penalty. We briefly consider trying to get out but we're hearing that the flights are already full and the telephone lines are jammed.
The memo says the airport will be closed on Sunday but our flight is on Monday so we'll be fine getting out post-hurricane. Right!
What can we do? Get a drink and check out the nude beach, that's what we can do.
We had read about the facilities of the resort before selecting Sans Souci. One thing that we read about the resort that you can't really appreciate until you're there is that the nude facilities are completely separate from the rest of the resort and I mean completely separate. We had read about a 'long path' to get there. It's more like a road than a path. This isn't really a problem; it's just a couple of hundred yards. It gives you quite a bit of privacy from the remainder of the resort.
Unfortunately on the nude beach you have absolutely zero privacy from the neighboring low budget resorts that seem to be very popular with the locals.

The 'path' to the nude beach and pool
This isn't a problem unless you're shy or you were hoping for a quiet romantic stay on the beach. The neighboring beach was covered with young kids jumping, diving and yelling while we were there. They were having a great time but if you went to adult-only resort to get away from kids you might be disappointed.
The pool at the nude side has more privacy and is quite nice. It is a little small but it was barely used when we were there, lots of chairs everywhere. During our visit there were usually only 4 or 5 couples in the whole area (beach and pool combined). With such a small group you would think it would be easier to get a drink then it actually was. The bartender whose name I won't mention spent way too much time on the wrong side of the bar and I don't believe for a second that he was drinking 'apple juice' as he tried to have us believe.
I do know for a fact that the security guard wasn't drinking apple juice, I saw Roger (oops) fill the bottle in her brown paper bag with Red Stripe straight from the tap.
I wasn't really sure why they needed a security guard at the pool but they (all female) were always there during our visit.
This evening we got another hurricane update notice from the resort:
We are starting to realize that Dean just might make an appearance - I thought these things always turned and went somewhere else?
